• Democracy

Sarah believes the freedom to vote and have a say in our future is what makes America free and fair. Defending democracy means defending our basic rights. For Sarah, this means defending the constitution, the voting rights act, the civil rights act, and workers’ rights to unionize.

  • Tax Burden

Sarah believes in shifting the tax burden away from working families and onto Billionaires’ international corporations. Sarah knows that our economy is driven by the working class having the money needed to make regular needed purchases, and that they carry the burden of taxes. Sarah is committed to changing that.

  • DEI

Sarah believes in protecting all identities and in uplifting them. All people deserve equally, the right to live with dignity and to thrive in Illinois and in America regardless of their race, ethnicity, orientation, religion, or gender identity . Sarah cherishes our differences as they are part of what makes us strong.

  • Healthcare

From a woman’s right to choose, our ability to negotiate drug prices, access to hospitals and clinics, access to trans care, Sarah won’t budge an inch. She believes healthcare is a human right and she will fight to lower costs and expand access.

Donald Trump and extreme Maga Republicans are seeking to do the most un-American thing, seeking to restrict and control others’ bodies. Sarah supports people making healthcare decisions for themselves, without government input.

  • Climate

In just one decade, the growing zones in our State have shifted dramatically, and Sarah recognizes this as the red flag it is. Our district is home to nearly one thousand farms, who have been hit hard not only by changing economies, but the very climate that they depend on for growing is changing.

Sarah is familiar with the conservation efforts in our district’s conservation groups, and she applauds them. Our pocket of nature from the lakes rivers to the nature preserves are part of what makes living in this district special. Sarah is committed to protecting the diversity and the health of all of these natural bodies. Sarah recognizes the economic and health benefits for all members of our district that rely from conservation efforts.

  • Money in Politics

Sarah is committed to getting dark money out of politics. She believes each person deserves to be heard and represented equally. To ensure that, she is committed to transparency and restrictions on major corporations, or lobbyist donating to political candidates.

  • Palestine - Israel

Sarah believes in Peace above all. Israel has the right to defend itself within the boundaries of international law, but Sarah stands against the genocide and calls it what it is. Sarah hopes for a lasting peace and ideally, a two-state solution. The United States’ role is to hold Israel to a higher standard than we currently have, rather than to enable an extended conflict.

  • Education

Through Sarah’s background in education, her professional role in schools, and as a parent herself, she witnesses the successes and struggles of Illinois schools every day.

Our schools need funding support, to attract highly-qualified educators to our schools, and so that they remain in our schools. Across Illinois, many schools struggle to hire the personnel required to meet the needs of the students.

Meanwhile, schools, teachers, and parents are burdened with testing that detracts from what our children’s education. Sarah knows that our current system of statewide tests do not accurately represent many of our students’ academic abilities, and she will work to improve this system.
